The cost of a gorilla tour is expensive but an encounter with mountain gorillas is the ultimate wildlife experience. Whereas a safari to spot the big five is great, nothing beats watching mountain gorillas in their natural habitat – Gorillas are our relatives.

Mountain Gorilla

It is estimated that only about 1000 Mountain gorillas now survive in the wild – mountain gorilla permits sell like hot cake. Half of these are found in Uganda and the other half are shared by Rwanda and DR Congo. Because of their small remaining overall population worldwide, Mountain gorillas are considered endangered by organizations like the International Union for Conservation of Nature.

Day 1
Heading to the highlands
You’ll be collected early to drive down to Bwindi Impenetrable NP from Kampala (or Entebbe). It’s a long drive so settle back in your vehicle and enjoy the views.

Then will stop off at the equator as you pass into the southern hemisphere before passing by Lake Mburo NP (watch out for zebras by the side of the road) to reach Mbarara town. Here we’ll have time to stop off for lunch before heading into the highlands and beautifully terraced hillsides of the southwest of Uganda.

Complete your journey by winding along murram roads to reach the rain forest of Bwindi Impenetrable NP, reach your accommodation before dusk so you can enjoy the views across the rain forest.
Day 2
Gorilla Trekking Experience
Gorilla tracking Experience Uganda’s greatest natural wonder, an intimate meeting with one of Bwindi Impenetrable NP’s gorilla families. Start early with an orientation from a Uganda Wildlife Authority ranger on tracking the gorillas, before they guide you through the rainforest.

They’ll identify the local plants, birds, and wildlife as well as the general ecosystem of Bwindi Impenetrable NP for you. The trek length varies, depending on where the gorillas spent the night, ranging from thirty minutes to six hours. Once you find these incredible creatures you will spend one hour with them.

We think you’ll agree it’s one of the most magical experiences you can have with nature to see this unique family feed, socialize, nurse their young, patrol, and display their prowess. After which make the return trek to your camp to spend a sedate evening unwinding to the sounds of the African rainforest.
Day 3
Heading Home set off early from Bwindi Impenetrable NP
Heading Home set off early from Bwindi Impenetrable NP to make the eight to nine-hour drive back to Kampala (or Entebbe). So settle back and enjoy the ride as you descend from the highlands of Uganda back down to the plains and plantations by Lake Victoria.

You’ll stop off along the way at Mbarara for lunch, at roadside markets, you might like to explore, and at the equator. You’ll then arrive back in Kampala (or Entebbe) by early evening.
